Penny & The Pits - Liquid Compactor Album Release Show

Penny & The Pits - Liquid Compactor Album Release Show

The CAP

doors 8:30 / show 9

$15 adv / $20 at the door

The Pits as in bad times, shit luck, sweat stains… but also cherries. Penny & The Pits is the new project from Maritime stalwart Penelope Stevens. Perhaps best known as one third of the feverish art rock band Motherhood, Stevens is also a vital organizer, collaborator and visual artist in New Brunswick’s weird art and music underground.

Liquid Compactor, the debut statement from Penny & The Pits, is the result of Stevens putting their voice front and center for the first time. It’s a gritty, adventurous punk-rock album that processes feminist joy, rage and revenge. Across the album’s ten tracks, Stevens tears through a series of personal and collective traumas with a pulpy sense of exuberance. “I spent a lot of time making challenging work that would test both myself and the listener,” they reflect. “Now, I’m trying to make music that feels good; music that connects the heart to the body.”

The songs on Liquid Compactor process pain into power through the use of transformative symbols. Water, and more broadly liquid, is a recurring element. The Bay Of Fundy, The Nashwaak River and Fredericton’s Lord Beaverbrook Hotel pool all appear as backdrops. Baths come to a boil. Period blood is summoned as a source of strength. Chuds from the local bar are haunted ‘til they sweat. Perpetrators are overtaken by the turning tide.

The Lifers + Pallmer

The Cap

Doors 6:30 PM
Show 7 PM

The Lifers are returning to Fredericton with a new album in hand and the full band at their side!

The Lifers are a sister-fronted six-piece that has been pushing the boundaries of folk music in Canada and around the world for over a decade. Their new album 'Honesty' addresses sexual trauma and intergenerational pain through post-folk caresses and indie-rock bangers, inviting us to feel deeper, love gentler, and have fun despite all the shit.

Pallmer is a chamber-pop project born from late night improv sessions during a particularly snowy winter in Fredericton, New Brunswick. Using a cello and viola, the band’s music melds their love of songwriting with their classical training, using loopers and effects to expand the possibilities of their wooden instruments.

POSTPONED Heavy Rayne + The Sick Bandits + Straight On Till Morning
May

POSTPONED Heavy Rayne + The Sick Bandits + Straight On Till Morning

The Cap
Doors 8:30PM / Show 9:00PM
$25

Heavy Rayne is a new Alternative Metal band from the Canadian Maritimes. The band is truly unique in sound. Fronted by Jessika Gauvin, whose voice soars loud and atmospheric with tracks such as "Love's Requiem." The emotional "When Love and Death Embrace," and the true story of death and sobriety, "Rise from the Ashes."

The band was formed in January of 2020, by Guitarist Austin Campbell & Bassist Chris “DJ Shilo” Simpkins. After everything started to finally come together in, June 2024, the band came crashing down, with both the Guitarist and Bassist, weathering through personal storms to the point where the band seemed dead. Jessika and Drummer Dan “Deedzy” Martian came on board and resurrected the band from the dead in October, 2024.

With a trilogy of albums ready to go, the band is bringing their heavy metal show to the stage. With lyrics penned by Shilo about adolescence, substance abuse, death and hope, he hoped to create something people could latch onto forever.

The band is taking their unique opportunity of being signed to a record label from Canada that is giving them the opportunity of a lifetime, and the band is dedicated to making a difference as a platform and a name.
