Music Declares Emergency Canada present Housewife (solo) + Moira & Claire
Moira & Claire
Born on one side of Canada and now living on another, Halifax, Nova Scotia’s Moira & Claire write lighthearted, indie folk-pop songs that appeal to East and West Coasters and everyone in between. The sisters have been singing together for longer than their professional careers, their voices harmonizing in the kind of familial magic that only living together your entire life can attain. Their debut project “I’m not usually this forward but…” was nominated for three 2023 East Coast Music Awards (Group Recording of The Year, Rising Star Recording of The Year, and TD's Fan's Choice Video of The Year) as well as two 2023 Music Nova Scotia Awards (New Artist Recording of The Year, Contemporary Roots Recording of The Year). Their song Delaney's Dad, an anthem for today's queer youth, was nominated for Single Of The Year at The 2024 Canadian Folk Music Awards.
Housewife
With two CBC Top 20 songs under her belt (Work Song recently peaked at #8), Housewife is the Canadian indie rock/pop solo project of critically acclaimed singer-songwriter Brighid Fry (she/they). 22 year old Fry is queer and an ally, an activist and champion of the environmental organization Music Declares Emergency. Fry has been a staple in the Toronto indie scene since taking part in Girls Rock Camp when she was 8 years old. She has released five EPs, starred in the indie short musical Polly and the Pockets and has had her music placed in numerous TV shows and films. Fry is one of the co-founders of Music Declares Emergency Canada and participated in the 2022 Creative Climate Leadership program. Brighid’s songs have been streamed more than 5 million times and she has shared the stage with Serena Ryder, The Barenaked Ladies, Broken Social Scene, Joel Plaskett, Feist, Whitehorse and toured as an opener for Metric, Sam Roberts Band, Good Lovelies, Paolo Nutini, Rural Alberta Advantage and Lauran Hibberd. Brighid is playing as one of the headliners on the Main Stage at Toronto Pride in June.
