Help us get Barrie Back!

Ryan Barrie doesn’t just love the drums, he’s obsessed. His life has been led completely by his love for the instrument and how music brings joy to his community. At 35, Ryan, otherwise known as “Barrie”, has performed and recorded with upwards of ten musical projects throughout New Brunswick, including Waylon Napadogan, Kylie Fox, Too Bad Jim and Wicked Vices. He has taught drums to young musicians, and even performed at their birthday parties. He spearheaded a campaign to raise money to replace a fellow drummer's stolen drum kit, he has, as of late, taken on a career where he actively fosters the drumming community world wide, and he recently got married at his favourite music venue (The CAP!) where he played his first show. To Barrie, drumming isn’t just a job or hobby, it’s a way of life.
On November 10th, Barrie underwent a lower back (cluneal nerve decompression) surgery in Cincinnati. Ryan applied to have this procedure covered in part by Canadian Medicare but their application was rejected and they must pay for it out of pocket. The surgery went well and Ryan is now on the road to recovery but the financial strain of something like this is massive and he could really use our help.

Many individuals and bands of the Fredericton Music Scene are banding together, donating their time and talents so that we can help relieve Ryan of the financial pressures that came with his procedure. Ryan is a cherished member of the Fredericton music scene and we want to show him we have his back and have some fun while we're at it!

Sunday, December 21st we will be hosting 2 events at the Cap to fundraise for Ryan. During the daytime we will be hosting an acoustic, family friendly event. Full of collaborations between artists on both the Wilser's Room and Cap stages and a Silent Auction located in the Nest. In the evening we will keep the long standing tradition of the Feels Good Christmas Party going by plugging in with some of Fredericton's finest bands for one of our friendliest buds.
